Bob is a descendent from the first fleet to Sydney - his great great grandfather arrived in Sydney on board the Scarborough employed as a Private Marine Thomas O'Brien.
His mother Emma heard from other locals that he had been killed. Emma wrote to the Manager of the base records in September to say she had heard he had been killed, clearly a mother's anguish in having wait for many months to learn of her sons fate.
