Son of Esther Utteridge of Forth, Tasmania.
Brother of William Utteridge who returned to Australia on 22 May 1918 having served with the 52nd Battalion and the 4th Divisional Salvage Company. Another brother, Thomas Henry Utteridge, who enlisted in Tasmania but was discharged three months later. He died soon after from cerrebal-meningitis in the Hobart Hospital.
