Merton Seymour PEPPER was born in Nowra in 1895

His parents were Charles Alfred PEPPER and Rebecca Earl TORY

He enlisted in Sydney on 15th August, 1916 with the Australian Army - he was with the 19th Battalion, 18th reinforcements who embarked on 11th November 1916 on the ship Suevic from Sydney

He was Killed in Action by an exploding shell on 5th June, 1918

Merton was buried in Ribemont Communal Cemetery Extension and also commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Illawarra/Wollongong & the Australian War memorial - he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal

Mertons brothers Harry, Wallace & Thomas also served in WW1 (see attached links to biography & photos)
