Flying Officer Harold Edward Bancroft (Service No:82020) served in the RAAF from 19 September 1942 as an Aircraftman I at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth to 21 May 1946 when he was attached to 10 Stores Depot at Discharge.

Born in 1910 in York WA, Harry was eldest of seven children of Harold Stewart Bancroft (b1887 in Spring Hill, QLD) and Susan (Susie) Mary Hayden (b1891 in York, WA). Harold came to Western Australia in the early 1900s, working in Southern Cross as a Carpenter before moving in 1909 to York, where he and Susie married in 1910. Harold and Susie lived in York, Doodlakine via Northam, Fremantle, Toodyay and Perth where Harold was a Carpenter.

Harry joined the Civil Service in Perth, working as a Junior Inspector anf then Auditor and Inspector with the Public Works Department.  In 1934 in Perth, Harry married Muriel Jean Truscott (b1910 in Kadina, South Australia) and the couple lived in Perth where Harry continued working as a Civil Servant. Following his retirement in 1970, Harry and Muriel moved to Melbourne, Victoria where Muriel died in 1985 and Harry in 1989.
