Son of Frederick Bignell Oldham and Alice Edith Oldham of Queens Avenue, St Arnaud, Victoria, later of Horsham, Victoria.
Brother of Harold Grant Oldham who returned to Australia on 29 May 1919 having served with the 2nd Machine Gun Battalion; Wilfred Oldham who returned to Australia on 5 June 1919 having served with the Australian Army Medical Corps
At the time of enlistment Frederic was employed with Commonwealth Bank.
