24 Apr 1918: Honoured Military Medal, On 24th April, 1918, the enemy heavily shelled and gassed the vicinity of Bonnay. A wounded man was lying on the road in the midst of heavy fire and this man without hesitation went to his help; got him to a place of safety and rendered first aid. On 5 other occasions throughout the day he displayed similar gallantry under heavy fire in carrying and assisting his Officer to carry wounded men of other Units to safety. He showed the greatest determination and gallantry in so to exposing himself without regard in order to get men away and dressing their wounds with the greatest coolness under heavy fire. His example inspired others to similar action. He is worthy of the very highest commendation. London Gazette on 29 August 1918, page 10142 position 66.
