John Gordon HAWKES was born in Wallaroo, on the Yorke Peninsula of South Australia.
His parents were John HAWKES and ANNIE BROCK.
John was the nephew of Sir Edward Lucas, South Australia's agent-general in London from 1918 - 1925.
