DEATH AT THE FRONT.
PRIVATE VICTOR BOWTELL.
Fix this textOn Tuesday last the Rev. H. E. Noltenius, vicar of Holy Trinity Church of England, Ararat, received a telegram from the Defence Department, informing him of the death at the front of Private Victor Bowtell, of Great Western, and asking him to  convey the sad news to the parents, and also the condolences of the King, Queen and Commonwealth. The reverend gentleman carried out his sad duties. The message received was to the effect that the deceased young soldier died from a gunshot wound in the hip in St. John's Hospital, Etaples. The late Private Bowtell had resided at the wine village practically all his life, and was  esteemed by a large circle of friends. He is a son of Mrs Dunmore, of Great Western, his father being dead.
