Military Medal, Sergeant William Henry LISTER 'For gallant conduct near ZONNEBEKE on 16th October, 1917. This N.C.O. was in charge of a party laying a duckwalk track to THAMES WOOL, and owing to the extremely heavy shelling, the section for which he was responsible was destroyed. During the bombardment he moved his party out of the shelled area, but resumed worked immediately the shelling slackened. The bombardment was repeated six times during the morning, but in spite of this he completed his task as speedily as possible with a minimum of casualties.
