Nevison (Nev) Willoughby Faulkner was born in Rockhampton, Qld in 1894 and moved with his family to Sunbury, Victoria where his Father, Dr. William Cooke Faulkner set up his medical practice.
After attending Melbourne Grammer Nev was in his first year of medical studies at Melbourne University when he enlisted on 5/9/1914. He embarked, with the rank of Corporal as part of the AAMC on HMAT Afric.
He landed at Gallipoli on 25/4/1915 and were there until the evacuation. He was mentioned in despatches on 5/11/1915 and on 27/10/1916 was awarded the Military Medal.
He returned sick to Australia in early 1916 and after recovering attended an officers course at Duntroon and was commissioned 2nd Lieut. He left Australia in May 1917 and was appointed to the 46th Battalion who he joined in France in August 1917. Promoted to Lieut on 1/2/1918 he took part in most offensives until Nov 1918. On 15/10/1918 he was awarded the Military Cross for conspicious gallantry during operations. He returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 22/7/1919.
In September 1923 he married Helen Cora Alsop.
He took up land at Rockbank and raised cattle, etc.
He maintained his military interests with the CMF during the 1920/1930's and enlisted for WW2 on 19/6/1940 with the rank of Captain.
His final rank was Lieut/Col (Temporary Colonel).
Nevison Faulkner died 2/9/1985.
