Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Edmund Dwyer was a stationer from Brighton, Victoria prior to enlistment. His parents were Dennis and Elizabeth Dwyer, Exchange Hotel, Brighton, Victoria.
After his arrival in Suez, he transferred to the 46th Battalion and was admitted to hospital suffering from pyaemia. It seems pyaemia exhibits the same symptoms as other forms of septicaemia. He was reported dangerously ill throughout May 1915 and on 5 June 1916 he succumbed to his illness and was buried in the Ismailia War Cemetery, Egypt.
His older brother 1941 Pte Jack Dwyer, also of the 5th Battalion AIF, died of wounds at Gallipoli on 11 August 1915.
Another older brother, Sergeant Daniel James Dwyer 23rd Battalion AIF returned to Australia during 1919, having been severely wounded in the head at Pozieres, 1916.
