Son of John O'Rourke and Ellen O'Rourke nee O'Sullivan of Cobram, Victoria.

Patrick had previously enlisted in 1914 but was discharged as unlikely to become an efficient soldier.

Commenced return to Australia on 12 July 1919 aboard HT City of Exeter disembarking on 26 August 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
