Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Frank Vivian Searle enlisted with his brother Ray during August 1914, among the very first Australians to enlist in the AIF.

Frank was a member of the Westbury Methodist Church and a Sunday-school teacher. He was also a member of the Westbury Men's Wesley Guild.

He served at the Anzac landing on Gallipoli and survived unscathed for over four months until he was mortally wounded in the head on the 30 August 1915 and died the same day. He was buried in the Beach Cemetery.

His brother 2954 Pte. Ray Vernon Searle 52nd Battalion AIF, was killed in action 23 August 1917, aged 22.

Another brother, 1240 Sergeant Edward George Searle 15th Battalion AIF also enlisted in 1914, served for over four years and was awarded a Military Medal for bravery in 1918.
