Son of Henry Charles Ziems and Sophia Ziems of Albion Park, NSW.
Brother of Charles Vivian Ziems who returned to Australia on 28 August 1919 having served with the 12th Light Horse Regiment.
Commenced return to Australia on 16 March 1919 aboard HT Euripides disembarking on 25 April 1919
