Named after his Uncle 1552 Trooper Arthur Lovelock Chambers KIA Battle of Romani 1916 (WW1).

Private Arthur Chambers served in three operational tours of New Guinea. An original member of the 39th Battalion, 

New Guinea 3rd January 1942 to 28th December 1942, Port Moresby, Kokoda, Buna/Gona.

Evacuated to Australia for convalescence 

Transferred to the 22nd Infantry Battalion (CMF) 26th December1943 to 26th August 1944, Lae, Finschaven,Madang New Guinea.

Third and Final tour New Britain New Guinea January 1945 to January 1946

Arthur Chambers discharged in February 1946, did not claim his service medals and quietly returned to civilian employment.
