Biography contributed by Ian Fox

Henry served in WW1 and WW2.

In WW1, he enlisted in January 1915, embarked in mid April 1915, and by mid-May 1915 he was in Gallipolli. He suffered a severe bullet wound to his right shoulder in Pozieres in late July 1916 which necessitated his recovery in England for two months.

He returned to action and later sustained a severe shrapnel wound to his left foot and ankle while he was in Belgium in early October 1917. This required the amputation of his leg below his knee. Henry returned to Australia in mid 1918.

During WW2 Henry served in the 19th (VIC) Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps (VDC).
