He is remembered on the memorial plaque located within Scone Old Parish Church as well as on the Scone War Memorial.

He was 38 and the son of William and Isabella Howie, of Ivybank, Scone, Perthshire, Scotland-his mother lived sometime at Balformo Road, Scone, Scotland.
