Edward married Avon Emily McNee on the 21st of April 1915 at the Ann Street Presbyterian Church, Brisbane, Qld before he sailed for Egypt at the beginning of June 1915.
Avon joined Edward in Egypt and helped with the Australian Red Cross - she died at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Abbassia, Egypt from smallpox.
