Husband of Elsie Mabel Ogden nee Bullen of Caledonian Road, Brighton, Sussex, England. James and Elsie married on 8 November 1917 in the Registry Office, Brighton, Sussex, England. Horace Burfield officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 7 June 1918 aboard HT Essex disembarking on 1 August 1918 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
