Biography contributed by Sharyn Roberts

KEITH ROBERT STEPHENSON who died of wounds on 30th July 1916 was the son of Rev. A. R. Stephenson. He was born in 1890 and was at the School from 1905 to 1909. He was in the cricket eleven in 1905-6 and in the athletic team in 1907 and 1908.

On leaving School he followed engineering, both mechanical and structural, and was in the service of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. at Yarraville.

He enlisted early in the war as a private and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in the 8th Battalion on 23rd April 1915 before leaving Australia. He saw active service on Gallipoli but was seriously ill.

He was invalided to Australia, and after a rest rejoined his unit and proceeded to France. He was wounded in the spine in a charge at Pozieres on 28th July. He was taken to the field hospital close by, and
after a brief rally died on 30th July.
