Lest We Forget
I want to take a moment to honour my family's history of service and sacrifice in the military. My great-great-grandfather, Lenard, served in World War I from 1914 to 1915. He fought bravely on the Western Front and returned home, carrying with him the stories and experiences of the war that would shape our family's legacy.
Following him, my great-grandfather, Felix, served in World War II from 1942 to 1944. He fought in some of the war's most pivotal battles, and his bravery and commitment to our country ensured that he returned to his family after the conflict, sharing his experiences and lessons learned during those tumultuous years.
Lastly, my poppy, Raymond Smith, who is currently 81 years old, fought in the Vietnam. His service during such a complex time in history has greatly influenced my understanding of sacrifice and patriotism. He is a living testament to resilience and the enduring spirit of those who serve.
Each of these men has played a significant role in shaping our family's history, and I am proud to carry their stories forward as we remember their sacrifices.
