Private Reginald Ignatius O'Reilly (Service No:2088) enlisted in the AIF on 16 October 195 with 4th Light Horse Regiment, and embarked with his Unit from Melbourne for the Middle East on 28 January 1916 on board HMAT A32 Themistocles. Trooper O'Reilly was attached to 2nd Anzac Mounted Regiment on 10 June 1916 when he embarked from Alexandria for Marseilles. Trooper O'Reilly served in England and France, embarking for Melbourne on 17 December 1918 on board HT Argyllshire, and was attached to 4th Light Horse Regiment at Discharge on 3 May 1919. Private O'Reilly then served in WWII in the ACMF (Service No:V4704) from 29 July 1940 to 18 February 1942 with 17th, 3rd and 9th Garrison Battalions.

Pat was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1894, sixth of seven children of Patrick Michael (aka Michael) O'Reilly (b1860 in Kilkenny, Ireland) and Mary Jane Burgoyne (b1865 in Ballarat, Victoria). Michael (a Dealer) and Mary (a Domestic Servant and mother of three children) married in 1892 in Collingwood, Melbourne where they settled and raised their family and Michael was a Dealer, Labourer and Chimney Sweep. Mary died in 1896 and Michael in 1917.

Pat was living with his older sister Beatrice and working as a Farm Labourer in Melbourne in 1915 when he enlisted in the AIF. Following his Discharge, Pat was a Labourer in 1921 in Colac, Victoria when he married first wife Amy Box (b1897 in Irrewillpe, Colac, Victoria). Pat and Amy settled in Irrewillpe via Pirronyallock, where Pat was a Labourer. Following Amy's death in 1930, Pat remarried in 1931 to Annie Margaret Heywood (b1910 in Colac, Victoria). Pat and Annie settled in Irrewillpe, where they raised their family and Pat was a Labourer and Farmer. Pat died in 1968 and Annie in 1986.
