HONOURING SOLDIERS
HAWKER, October 27.— There was a large gathering of residents in the Institute on Sunday evening to bid farewell to Private Kenneth Fea Reed, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis P. Reed, and Private James George Melville, of A Company, second son of Mrs. S. E. Melville, on the eve of their departure for the front. Mr. B. Mansom presided. Speeches were delivered by Messrs. B. Mansom, H. A. Condon, T. V. Hartnett, W. G. Wingel, W. J. Pyman, and the Rev. C. R. Dadds (Methodist). Mr. W. J. Pyman, on behalf of the residents, presented Privates Reed and Melville each with a purse of money. Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Reed have another son (Colin) in camp.
