SYDNEY THOMAS VICTOR COLE was born in Sydney on 11th November, 1894. He is the son of Mr. John Francis Cole and Mrs. M. B. Cole, and was educated at the Church of England Grammar Schools of Sydney and Melbourne.
Entering the service of the Bank at Sunshine, Victoria, on 7th June, 1912, he was removed to the Flinders Street West Branch on 17th March, 1914, and the Melbourne Office on 6th April, 1914.
Sydney Cole enlisted in the A.I.F. on 4th August, 1915, and was appointed first lieutenant of the 3rd Squadron of the Australian Flying Corps on 16th October, 1917.
