Military Medal
'Near HOLLEBEKE on the night 29/30th September (the night prior to the raid on enemy trenches) Cpl. Hedge reconnoitred "No Mans Land", and the enemy wire. On the night of the raid he was with the wire and mat squad, and cleverly led his men to the enemy wire and prepared a path over, which the remainder of the party passed into enemy trench. He then organised his men and prepared a clear track for the return of the party. His work gave great assistance to the rest of the party.'
