Sergeant Victor Charles Collins (Service No:V359637) initially served in the AIF (Private; Service No:VX45861) with 2/2nd Pioneer Training Battalion from 24 July 1940 to 24 October 1940 - Discharged as medically unfit for active service. On 12 March 1942 he enlisted in the ACMF as a Corporal, promoting through to Sergeant and serving with 14 Battalion VDC until Discharge on 21 September 1945.

Vic was born in Kiata via Nhill, Victoria in 1900, third of five children of Henry Collins (b1868 in Mt Gambier, South Australia) and Elizabeth Dickinson (b1871 at Murphy's Creek, Victoria). Henry was a Storekeeper in Kiata via Nhill when he and Elizabeth married in 1895 in Ballarook, Victoria. They settled in Kiata where they raised their family and Henry was a Storekeeper. Following Elizabeth's death (Tuberculosis) in 1912, Henry remarried twice - to Bertha Louise Devlin (nee Holland; b1878 in Millicent, South Australia) in 1913, and following her death in 1937 he married Florence  in Marion Facey (b1890 in Cranborne, Victoria) - Florence was a Nurse at Portland Hospital - in 1938 in Portland. Henry lived in Portland from the mid 1910's, where he was a Storekeeper/Merchant.

Vic worked in Nhill and Propodollah as a Storekeeper and in 1927 was a Farmer at Yarto via Hopetoun when he was married iin Dimboola to Frieda Louisa Schneider (b1902 in Dimboola, Victoria). Vic and Frieda settled in Yarto where Vic was a Farmer until the late 1930s when they moved to Kiata and Vic was a Storekeeper when he enlisted in the Army. By 1949 Vic and Frieda had settled in Dimboola where they raised their family and Vic was a Storekeeper until his death in 1960. Frieda died in 1981.
