Son of John Thomas Philpot and Millicent Hannah Philpot of Lithgow, NSW
A LIFE NOBLY GIVEN IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY
Sergt. Philpot. a well-known and much liked young Lithgow lad, after joining the Air Force, went to Canada and thence to England under, the Empire Air Training Scheme. He was assistant surveyor at the Lithgow and Hermitage collieries. Our sincere sympathy is extended to the parents in the loss of a fine son.
Lancaster R5691 of 50SQN RAF was shot down off the coast of France near Meuvaines, Caen after take-off on a daylight bombing mission, target Milan, Italy
Sergeant Cumberland 403644 RAAF & Sergeant Philpot 403532 RAAF were buried in Bayeux Cemetery after their bodies washed ashore. The body of Sergeant Gregg 404420 RAAF was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial
