Warrant Officer Oswald James Pearce OAM; MiD (Service No:NX3333) served with 2/1 Field Regiment in WWII. As a Sergeant, he was awarded a Mention in Despatches on 30 December 1941 (London Gazette p7360).

Born in 1919 in Sydney NSW, Oswald was youngest of six children of William Henry Pearce (b1869 in Northern Ireland) and Venus Wilhelmina Plummer (b1879 in Sydney, NSW). William immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1878, arriving in Sydney NSW on board the Erato. William (a Railways Inspector) and Venus married in 1903 in Penrith, NSW where they settled and raised their family and William worked for the NSW Government Railways as an Inspector and Superintendent. The family had moved to Sydney by 1919.

Oswald worked in Sydney as a Clerk and married on two occasions - to Jessie Thompson in 1944 and Yvonne Joan Donoghue in 1963. Oswald was a Hotel Keeper in Sydney (1950s/1960s) and a Secretary/Manager from the late 1960s. He was awarded an OAM in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours 'For services to veterans through the 2/1 Field Regiment Association'. Oswald died in 2019.
