The Pegasus of December 1918 reported of his promotion in England:
'Tom Murray has been promoted to Second Lieutenant. In a letter received last month he says he spent eight months in England gaining his commission, and had a great time. He had seen several Old Boys. Les Reid was still in England, and very well. After he gained his lieutenancy Tom went over to France with a siege battery.'
He died, age 30 years, on 31 October 1925 in Berwickshire, Scotland.
Thomas’ brother Major Archibald Stuart Murray also served in WWI for the entire duration, initially with the 1st Light Horse and later with the Royal Air Force. AS Murray is also recognised within the Newtown All Saints Church Honour Board.
