Military Medal
'On the night of 12th/13th August, 1918, east of WARFUSEE ABANCOURT, during a battalion relief, the enemy was shelling very heavily. Seven infantrymen from the 17th British Division were wounded, Private HARE and another Australian, who were stationed at the Regimental Aid Post went to the assistance of these men as soon as they heard they were wounded. They dressed them and carried them to a place of safety, undoubtedly saving the lives of these men. This action was carried out under heavy enemy shell fire.'
