"Lance-Corporal Kenneth F. McKenzie, son of Mrs. J. McKenzie, of 68 Wheatland-road, Malvern, was born on the 6th of November, 1886, and he joined the service as a junior teacher at Victoria Park School, Collingwood, in 1906. He was head teacher at Sandy Creek in 1912, and at Lardner in 1915. He is recorded as a very good teacher, decisive and prompt.
He enlisted on the 31st of July, 1915, and embarked with the 7th Reinforcements to the 21st Battalion. While training at Tel-el-Kebir, in Egypt, he was transferred to the 60th Battalion on the 26th of February, 1916, and, on the 13th of April, was appointed Lance-Corporal. He went to France with this unit on the 18th of June, and was killed at Fleurbaix on the 19th of July."
