Enlisted 15 September 1915 at Adelaide, South Australia.

Embarked from Adelaide on 7 February 1916 per HMAT Tiltiades.

Served France.

Schrapnel wound left thigh 20 July 1916. Embarked per HS Jan Brydal to 3rd Canadian General Hospital. Rejoined unit 17 October 1916.

Served France January 1917. Schrapnel wound right thigh 30 September 1917. Rejoined unity 19 March 1918. 

Suffered illness, bronchitis; invalided to England 17 April 1918.

Returned to Australia 23 July 1918.

Commemorated on Honor Board at Mount Pleasant Soldiers' Memorial Hall, Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church Honor Board and Mount Pleasant Anglican Church Honor Board.

Died 12 November 1986 and buried at Gumeracha, South Australia.

Spent time at Lady Galway's Club House at Henley Beach on his arrival home, for recuperation. A welcome social was held at the Mount Pleasant Institute Hall in September 1918, with speeches, items, dance and supper enjoyed.
