Son of Frederick Vaughan and Kate Vaughan of Kensington, England.

His apprenticeship for a motor mechanic was served with Crossley & Co of Wolverhampton, England.

Prior to coming to Australia he served with the 1st Dragoon Guards for eight years

Husband of Lois Alice Vaughan nee Hartland  C/- Commonwealth Bank, King William Street, SA later of Anglo Avenue, Parkside, SA. Kenneth and Lois were married on 11 November 1915 in St. John Church, Adelaide, SA.

Commenced return to Australia on 30 March 1918 aboard HT Wiltshire disembarking on 1 May 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide
