Add my storyBiography
Quite short Claude was often described as a "nugget of a man."
Prior to enlisting he was living on Royal Street in East Perth with his uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Hogan. His mother (Clara I. Keogh of Bendigo), had already passed away.
He was Killed in Action during the Battle of Messines and was buried at Mud Corner Cemetery. His personal grave epitaph reads:
THEY LAID HIM BY WITH PRAYER & SIGH THE SPOT WHERE HE WAS KILLED
His Red Cross file quite colourfully described by numerous witnesses, tells the tale of how he died and is recommended for reading (see side-bar link)
