Biography contributed by Rosemary Ritorto
Melville was married to Sarah Elizabeth (nee PLUMMER) and they had three children:
- Reginald Alfred William REES, born 8 June 1913, Mile End, Hindmarsh SA (Book/Page: 912/177);
- Ella May REES, born 1915, Victoria Park, WA (Reg. No. 100069); and
- Harold Edgar REES
Whilst Melville was away serving in the AIF, it appears from records that Sarah and the children stayed with Sarah's parents George Alfred and Catherine PLUMMER at 21 Fitzroy Street (now Berwrick St), Victoria Park. Melville's brother-in-law Private Leslie Edward PLUMMER also served in WWI and was Killed in Action in France.
