Enlisted at Liverpool, New South Wales as 3145 Private Young 10th Reinforcements 13th Battalion in 1915. Embarked to Egypt on 30 September 1915 but was invalided back to Australia with Myocardioitis. Recovered and re-enlisted and embarked to France.

Also served in the Cadets and the Citizen Military Forces, service number N73292

19 December 1918 - Admitted to hospital with Meningitis

Medlas: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal. Later re-issued with teh British WAr MedalandVictory Medal
