War Service/Promotions: Proceeded to Gallipoli, Turkey, at the rank of Corporal on 5 April 1915. On 23 June 1915 he was Taken on Strength at Alexandria, Egypt. Proceeded to join Western Frontier Force on 8 December 1915. He was transferred to the 1st Australiam Army Service Corps in March 1916 and sent to the western front,. embarking for overseas at Alexandria on 25 March 1916, disembarking at Marseilles, France on 1 April 1916. Admitted to 2nd Stationary Hospital, Abbeville, France, on 3 April 1916. On leave in England from 11 June 1916 rejoining his unit 19 June 1916. He proceeded to the Front on 31 July 1916 and was attached to the 3rd Field Ambulance on 1 August 1916. Developed influenza in the Field and was admitted to the 2nd Australian General Hospital, Le Havre, France, on 19 December 1916, being discharged on 1 January 1917. He rejoined his unit on 12 January 1917. Furlough in United Kingdom on 30 November 1917, rejoining unit on 19 December 1917. Appointed Sergeant 9 December 1918. Marched out for return to Australia from Field on 29 January 1919.

Fate: Returned to Australia 17 March 1919 per HT Plessy, embarking 17 March 1919, London, arriving in Australia 30 April 1919,. He married Elsie Margaret Groves, 10 August 1921, Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tumut, NSW.
