Son of William Alfred Fossey and Maria Fossey nee Quaile of St Kilda, Victoria. Brother of Charles Vere Fossey who died of wounds on 25 November 1916 and is buried in Grove Town Cemetery. Plot 11, Row K, Grave 11, Eva Mary Fossey, Lena Florence Fossey, Alfred Thomas Edward Fossey, Ada Sophia Fossey who was later named as next of kin, Walter Ernest Fossey, Mabel Victoria Fossey, Arthur Fossey who returned to Australia on 8 April 1918 having served with the 32nd Battalion and Elsie Vera Fossey
