66 years ago today, on the 30th October 1957, Driver Thomas Norman McCoy, 2nd Australian Division Signal Company (Reg No-1976), bushman and colliery mechanic from "Lincoln", Timor, New South Wales and Ida Street, Charlestown, N.S.W. and 128A Lawson Street, Hamilton, N.S.W. (1945), was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 63. CATHOLIC 2-50. 11.

Born at Nundle, New South Wales on the 14th June 1894 to Patrick Albert and Agnes Mary McCoy (RYAN); husband of Marjorie McCoy (married abroad-place & date unknown, died?), Tom enlisted on the 23rd June 1915 with the 17th Battalion at Liverpool, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A54 Runic on the 9th August 1915.

Admitted to hospital 20.9.1916 (scabies), 7.3.1919 (scabies).

Granted leave to England from 12.7.1917 to 26.7.1917.

Granted leave to France from 9.9.1918 to 26.9.1918.
Embarked for return to Australia 23.7.1919.

Tom returned home on the 15th October 1919 (with wife Marjorie), being discharged on the 14th December 1919.

Nothing located on Trove regarding enlistment, returning home, etc.

Mr. McCoy’s name has been inscribed on the Nundle Shire First World War Honor Roll, South Maitland Church of England Parish & District Roll of Honour, Murrurundi Shire War and Services Honour Roll and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.

Service record states died 29-10-1957.

Officially commemorated 21-7-1958.

I have placed poppies at Tom’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

Younger brother Wilfred Stanley (born 21.4.1897, Nundle, New South Wales, clerk from "Lincoln", Timor, New South Wales, enlisted 21.6.1915, 17th Battalion, Reg No-1977, RTA 6.7.1919, 2nd Australian Division Signal Company, died 16.5.1966, Burwood, N.S.W., age 69, officially commemorated – Plaque in New South Wales Garden of Remembrance.
