Private Norman Marsh MM(Service No:5072) enlisted in the AIF on 4 January 1916 and was attached to 26 Infantry Battalion when he embarked from Brisbane on 4 May 1916 on board HMAT Seang Choon A49. Private Marsh served in France with 26 Infantry Battalion and was recommended for a Mlitary Medal on 11 September 1918 for his bravery as a runner during the Battle at Mont St Quentin near Peronne. His award was promulgated in the London Gazette on 17 June 1919 (p7697) and the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 10 October 1919 (p1494). Private Marsh embarked for Sydney on 29 May 1919 on board HT Rio Negro and was Discharged on 31 December 1919. Private Marsh also served with the ACMF (Corporal; Service No:Q124800) in WWII.

Norman Long Marsh was born in 1895 in Laidley QLD, the first child of Edith Sophia Maud Marsh (b1876 in Gatton, QLD). In 1898 Edith married Henry Octavius Head (b1872 in Ipswich, QLD) - Henry was a Farmer. Edith and Henry settled at Blenheim in Laidley QLD where they had eight children together and Henry was a Farmer. 

Norman worked as a Farmer at Blenheim in Laidley, QLD and in 1923 married Eva Grace Randall (b1901 in Laidley, QLD). Norman and Eva settled in Laidley where Norman was a Labourer before moving to Gatton where he worked as a Fruiterer. In the 1950's Norman and Eva moved to Brisbane, QLD where Norman was a Labourer before retiring to Victoria Point, Cleveland QLD. Norman died in 1973 and Eva in 1980.
