A. Heaslop's hospital stay
We have here at Pontypridd Museum in South Wales, the diaries of the man who treated Trooper Heaslop before he died. A local of Hopkinstown, Pontypridd, the man's name was William Lloyd Jones and he was a private in the 1st Welsh Casualty Clearing Station, attached to the 53rd Welsh Division.
Although the details are scant, in his diary on Saturday 30th June 1917, Pte Jones writes that he was taken off the Italian ward and moved to the isolation ward to look after Mr Heaslop. Also in the isolation ward with Mr Heaslop were 'Chivers, Tom Evans, Dodd (and) Corpl. Theopholas'.
Pte Jones writes in his diary on Sunday 1st July 1917 that Heaslop died at 6:30 in the evening. He was buried on Monday 2nd July by a Capt. Knight.
