Albert's parents were Nelson Horatius Sproles and Mary Ann Elizabeth Woodward. His father selected land at Laceys Creek in 1887. Albert was working as a farmer at Terrors Creek when he enlisted on 29 December 1915 at Brisbane. Albert listed his brother as his next of kin. Albert is listed on the 1919 and 1925 electoral rolls as living at Terrors Creek and working as a farmer.
