An Original Anzac resting at Sandgate Cemetery, not forgotten.

84 years ago today, on Tuesday afternoon of the 30th November 1937, Private Kenneth Seymour Wells Robertson, 4th Battalion, also known as Robbo, (Reg No-218), coal miner from Cessnock, New South Wales and 78 Rose Street, Darlington (Chippendale) N.S.W and 53 Scott Street, Carrington, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 44. PRESBYTERIAN-11SW. 87.

Born at Richmond, New South Wales on the 14th May 1893 to David H and Agnes Robertson; husband of Nellie Robertson nee Green (married 13.9.1915, Randwick, N.S.W., died 1970), Robbo enlisted August 1914 at Sydney, N.S.W.

Older brother Donald Frederick (1st Australian Field Ambulance, Reg No-156, an Original Anzac who also served Boer War, Reg No-2666, A Battery, Royal Australian Artillery, Reg No-319, 5th Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse, born 1877, died 1943) also resting at the Robertson gravesite - PRESBYTERIAN-11SW. 83.

Older brother Thomas George (3rd & 1st Battalions, Reg Nos-397 & 2652, born 1883, died 1932), also resting at the Robertson gravesite - PRESBYTERIAN-11SW. 85.

Older brother Oswald Joseph Morton (born 1889, died 1947, also resting at the Robertson gravesite - PRESBYTERIAN-11SW. 81.) enlisted at Cessnock on the 21.7.1918, but was found to be unfit for active service, being discharged on the 31.12.1918.

Robbo returned home July 1915, being discharged medically unfit (rheumatism & strained heart) on the 3rd November 1915.

Mr. Robertson’s name has been inscribed on the Cessnock War Memorial.

I have placed poppies on Robbo’s brown granite headstone in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
