Sergeant H. N. Uphill who has been reported wounded, was one of the first batch of nine Broken Hill policemen who enlisted when the war broke out. He has had previous military experience in India. His father (Mr. T. Uphill), who died a little while ago, was well known in Victorian racing circles as an owner, trainer, and buyer for India.
