Son of James and Margaret CUNNINGHAM, husand of Ethel May Cunningham (nee Fry), father of Vera Adeline May Cunningham (1906) and Isabel Amelia Cunningham (1908).

Pte Cunningham had three brothers who also served overseas, one was killed at Gallipoli, one was killed in France and the other brother returned to Australia.
