An Original Anzac who served during The Great War now resting at Sandgate Cemetery, not forgotten.

86 years ago today, on the Friday afternoon of the 25th December 1936, Warrant Officer (Class 1) William Albert Hull, 7th Australian Army Service Corps (Reg No-1034), shoemaker from 'Woodberry', Ontoria Street, Adamstown, New South Wales and 2 Union Street, Adamstown, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 62. ANGLICAN 1-29. 77.

Born at London, England about 1875 to William Albert and ? Hull; husband of Isabella Mary Hull nee Kirk (married 1913, Newcastle, N.S.W., died?), William enlist on the 19th September 1914 with the 2nd Light Horse Brigade Train at Marrickville, N.S.W.

Admitted to hospital, Maadi, Egypt 10.1.1916 (not stated), 25.9.1917 (pyorrhoea - a common dental condition), 2.11.1917 (exostosis lower femur - benign growth of bone extending outwards from the surface of a bone).

Granted leave to England 29.12.1917 to 15.1.1918.
William returned home on the 7th June 1918, being discharged medically unfit (lumbago) on the 13th September 1918.

Report that William attended a send off for Private Raymond Edmond, 4th Battalion (Reg No-65973), grocer from Glebe Road, Adamstown, New South Wales, born at Adamstown on the 11.7.1897, died 5th November 1980, age-83. Mr. Hull’s name has been inscribed on the Adamstown Citizens' Memorial, Adamstown Municipal District Roll of Honor and the Adamstown Mechanics' Institute Roll of Honour. 

I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at William’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
