Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Both of Reginald’s parents had died well before the war, before he was 15 years of age. He was living in the Redfern area of Sydney, New South Wales when he enlisted. He gave his next of kin as his sister, Mabel Harriet Blair.

His older brother, 4668 Lce. Cpl. Harry Blair 17th Battalion AIF, was killed in action four months after Reginald on 10 January 1918, aged 35.

Reginald was badly wounded in Belgium by high explosive shell fragments in both legs. He died soon after in the 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station.

His eldest brother received his medals and entitlements. His sister Mabel received his personal effects and a pension.
