Son of Walter and Emma Campbell; husband of Mary Trenett Campbel of 12 James Street, Windsor, Victoria. Father of Leslie Walter Campbell, Harold B. Campbell and Albert W.E. Campbell. Mary died on 1 June 1919 and he children were raised by Mary's mother Lily Hempel of 267 Inkerman Street, East St. Kilda,  Victoria
