PRIVATE JACK ELLIS
During the week Mrs. Ellis, the young wife of Private John Cooper Ellis, who, resides with her mother, Mrs. Greatorix, John and Keating streets, Lidcombe, received word that he was killed in action on 21st February in France. He left for the front on 22nd August last and went to England. The last letter received by Mrs. Ellis from him was dated 6th January this year. He was then in Hurdcott Camp, and was about to leave for France. He was a native of the old country and he had visited his people in Manchester. He was 39 years of age and belonged to the 45th Battalion. Strange to relate he enlisted on the second anniversary of his wedding day (21st February) and was killed one the third anniversary.
