Recommended for a MILITARY CROSS:

"During the whole of this Officer's service with AIF, he has displayed great devotion
to his duty, which he always carried out in a very efficient manner.
He transferrd to this Company (1st ANZAC), from 1st Aust Division Signal Company
as an NCO and was cable Sergeant on his arrival in France.  His work in assisting
in carrying out the buried cable system in BOIS GRENIER area was commendable.
This work and the work of maintaining these lines frequently brought him into
heavily shelled zones.
He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on 9th June 1916.  Since then he has had charge
of Divisional Artillery communications, this work he has always carried out in a most
satisfactory manner under the circumstances.
In the ALBERT area he often displayed great courage while performing his dutes.
I have previously noted that this officer's services be recognised for his work as an
NCO during the evacuation of GALLIPOLI."
